I have recently accepted the position of chairperson for the A+Art committee for the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. It should be a fun and exciting year. A+Art is a group of volunteers that mission is to organize art events for local artists. We had our first show opening for 2015 last night. It was a blast! Good friends, food, wine and music.
Check out our committee https://www.facebook.com/APlusArt?fref=ts
We always welcome volunteers.
Just a little peaceful pasture and field.
As I was traveling south on 331 to Freeport, the clouds were amazing so I pulled into an undeveloped development. One of those started in the early 2000’s and never made it thru the real estate crash. Anyway, there are all of these nice roads with rolling hills and fencing. These make a nice foreground for the clouds. So, I took a few photos and really liked this scene. 🙂
Someday, there will be houses here. We are getting a Publix in our little town and a new highway. Gee, next it will be Walmart and McDonald’s. Progress.

(I have not decided if I am finished with this one… )
This is in honor of my big sister that recently spent 2 months in Honduras working with a missionary. My sister has worked for many years to get medical training, teaching experiences, etc. in an effort to be a missionary. So, that is the ladder that she has climbed, she left behind the temptations and took the leap into her life’s quest. Way to go Sis!
Oh, another way to use and apple. As a CupCake – a toast to little Adam.

One of my favorite drawings that I did on my front porch in Micanopy (those were the days my friends…). I call it “Determination”. Some people mistake that look as anger or aggression. I see it as a man determined to push forward and get what he wants.
Photo quality is not very good. I will take another one someday and replace. 🙂

This is another rendition of “Pines of 20”. I was trying to create mist in the distance.

Oh Pear! Oh Fun! Will she or won’t she?
I have been here before. Sometimes you should not look back and just jump!
Whee! Grow some wings and soar.

This 24×8 inch board has been staring at me for several months now. Finally, it has blossomed into “Palmotion – It’s a Rhythm Thang!”. Yep, odd name I will explain.
When I look at the painting, first my eye is drawn to the right side with the water and close up palm. Then my eyes goes all the way over to the left side, but quickly wants to return to the right. If this was music notation is would be land on the right with a dotted quarter note then an eighth note on the left, then repeat. For my less musically inclined friends, think of the sound of someone limping as they walk. The sturdy leg is the on that is the right side, the limpy leg/step is the left.

I took a break (again) from my apple quest. I am working on a commission piece that just has me in a creative slump. So…… I did this quick “Adam and Eve” charcoal/pastel drawing. It was fun and considering It was sort of dark in the room the colors did not turn out too shabby.
I took a few days off from apples. Now I am back and BIG. This apple is about 15 inches tall. The actual apple is sitting in the bottom left. My apple #4 is next to that. #4 was the smallest and not previously posted. I loved doing this large apple. Time wise it took about the same time doing the large with charcoal as it did the small with pencil. You get so much more coverage quickly with charcoal and you get to smear it around with your fingers. What is art if you do not get some on you once in awhile? I am still working thru the Will Kemp Light and Shadow course, soon I will progress to the next step, maybe we draw a coffee cup or something…? 🙂
! hope everyone had an eventful Halloween.
My previous hometown, Micanopy, FL, is having their Fall Festival this weekend. Well worth going if you are in that area. Micanopy is a wonderful place to visit and an even better place to live. BTW, we do have a house for sale there two blocks from downtown. If you are interested in living in a storybook town complete with an old fashioned 4th of July parade and fireworks, Santa comes to town on a hay wagon and everybody knows your name, contact Joe Still, at Watson.
